Water teams working hard to get supplies back to normal following yet another burst pipe in Melton

Severn Trent Water say their teams are working hard to get water supplies back for those affected by another burst water pipe in Melton.

Water was seen coming out the ground on Thorpe Road last night (Saturday) following a burst at the junction of Thorpe Road and Norman Way.

This follows other incidents this week on Saxby Road and further up Thorpe Road near Belvoir Street and two more past Thorpe Arnold.

As we first reported on Wednesday residents have been reporting issues with their water pressures and supply since first leak.

However while repairing the most recent one on Thorpe Road, teams confirmed that another leak had been discovered.

On Sunday afternoon a Severn Trent spokesperson said: “We would like to apologise for the recent supply interruption in your area. We have now completed the repair to the burst water pipe.

However we have now identified a further burst in the area. Our teams are working to repair this as soon as possible to get your water flowing as normal again.

We are very sorry and understand how inconvenient this has been. Thank you for your patience.”

Later on Sunday afternoon Severn Trent Water added that the leak was taking longer than normal to repair and they hope to update further by 6pm.

They said: “Following on from our previous update, we’re really sorry if you’re still experiencing supply interruptions due to a burst water pipe.

Our teams are working hard to get your water flowing again, but the repair is taking us a little longer than we first anticipated.

We will provide you with a further update by 6PM.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience.”

There have been a number of leaks in recent years, most notably the one on Saxby Road in 2022 which caused a full road closure and destroyed residents driveways when water erupted from the ground.
